Makar Sankranti: This festival is celebrated on January 14th and marks the beginning of the sun's northward journey. It is celebrated in different ways across the country, such as Uttarayan in Gujarat, Pongal in South India, Sankranti in Maharashtra etc.
Pongal: Pongal is a four-day harvest festival celebrated mainly in the southern state of Tamil Nadu. It is celebrated on the 14th of January and is dedicated to the Sun God.
Lohri: Lohri is a Punjabi festival celebrated on January 13th. It marks the end of winter solstice and is celebrated by lighting a bonfire, singing and dancing around it.
Bhogali Bihu: This festival is celebrated in the state of Assam on January 14th, it is celebrated after the harvest season, people prepare traditional delicacies and enjoy the feast.
Poush Parbon: This festival is celebrated in the state of West Bengal, on the last day of the Bengali month Poush (usually falls on January 14th or 15th) it is celebrated by preparing traditional delicacies and visit to the temple.
Kite Festival: This festival is celebrated in Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan on Makar Sankranti (14th January) people fly kites, and enjoy traditional delicacies.
